Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P. is seeking a Research & Development Director to lead our Finished Lubricants Group in market driven technology. This role will work in direct collaboration with marketing in innovation and development of intellectual property. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Drive a culture of accountability and superior performance in multiple sites Training for technical staff Provide direction to the technology and product development teams for Consumer and Industrial Lubricants Work in coordination with Calumet Related groups to leverage our capabilities Lead projects and drive technology platforms to ensure projects are on time and under budget Work with technical leaders to solve product development problems and customer concerns Work with other leaders of the Leadership Team to ensure proper research program proposals and plans are reported accordingly As a Chemist and Chief Formulator for Calumet, innovate and provide solutions that meet market needs and trends Develop superior products and programs by partnering with OEM customers, supply chain technical leads, and marketing teams Aid in recruitment and development of new Research & Development professionals Participate in external activities and industry technical symposiums and consortiums to promote Calumet Finished Lubricants Group as a global technology leader while representing our strategies to the industry Ensure the lab is safe and adheres to federal, state and local regulatory agencies POSITION REQUIREMENTS PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering 10+ years of experience in lubricants or petrochemical Experience leading a technical team of researchers, chemists and formulators Lab management experience Experience formulating lubricants Ability to lead multiple projects Ability to publish and track publications NECESSARY ATTRIBUTES Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines Excellent communications skills used in building customer relationships POSITION PREFERENCES OEMs Industrial lubricants or refrigerant gas makers Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
