Greek Life Coordinator - 502112

POSITION SUMMARY: (Summarize the general purpose of this position. This statement should give a brief overview of the basic purpose of the position.)

As a member of the Center for Student Involvement team, the Greek Life Coordinator is responsible for promoting positive stewardship and engagement with fraternities and sororities. Assists the Associate Director of Greek Life in advising governing councils and developing leadership programs by serving as a liaison for a number of chapters and supporting policies and protocols. In close collaboration with the Associate Director of Greek Life, the Greek Life Coordinator will work closely with administrators, chapter, and alumni advisors of fraternities and sororities, as well as national organizations for the betterment of the Greek Life community.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (Generally 6 -12 items, include annual % of time typically spent performing each duty. Combine those duties with individual % of less than 5%. Total percentage = 100%. Greek Life (50%)

  • Serves as an official university advisor to governing councils of the fraternity/sorority chapters.
  • Works alongside the Associate Director regarding the development of programs associated with annual traditions and celebrations supporting the Fraternity/Sorority Life community.
  • Contributes to developing a strategic vision for the Greek community and implement programs to achieve these goals. In partnership with the Associate Director develop programs associated with annual traditions and celebrations supporting the Fraternity/Sorority Life and the greater University community.
  • Assists in the interpretation and enforcement of University policies and procedures related to Greek student organizations and campus programs.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders, councils, and Assoc. Director to ensure the sustainability of sorority and fraternities through intentional recruitment practices, cultural competence training, scholarship, active recruitment, fiscal management, and service.
  • Coordinates all daily operations, social event registration processes, internal and external communications, recruitment, and affiliation programs as directed by the Associate Director of Greek Life.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with chapter advisors that promote the development and growth of all organizations. This includes educating advisors about roles and responsibilities and consulting with advisors on problems and issues affecting the specific chapters and the overall Greek system.
  • Assists the Associate Director in serving as the liaison between the university and individual chapters, advisors, alumni, and house corporation officers.
  • Educational Programs (25%)

  • Works with Associate Director regarding the development of programs associated with annual traditions and celebrations supporting the Fraternity/Sorority Life community.
  • Implements programming developed in collaboration with the Associate Director of Greek Life, including wellness, hazing prevention, sexual violence prevention, risk management, leadership, and other special programming topics as needed.
  • Coordinates and executes values congruence and/or leadership programs including curriculum development, logistics, programmatic development, volunteer recruitment, and participant recruitment.
  • Administrative and Marketing (15%)

  • Prepares and disseminates data and information about the fraternity/sorority membership, scholarship, and membership intake processes.
  • Maintains and updates the Greek Life website, social media, and other marketing developed for the advancement of the program.
  • Maintains contact with the offices of the national organizations with respect to the development and status of local chapters.
  • Assists in maintaining records and preparing reports on fraternity and sorority academic standing, recruitment statistics, and accreditation.
  • Other Duties (10%)

  • Assists the Associate Director and committees/councils plan special events related to the celebration of Greek Life on campus.
  • Assists with general activities and programs sponsored by the Center for Student Involvement; serve on university committees as needed.

  • Education & experience: (List the specific education, years and type of experience required for entry into the position. Ex: High school graduation and 5 years of experience in providing administrative support function in an office setting.)

  • A bachelors degree in Education, Organizational Development, or a related field is required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Two years, through membership or direct advisement, of National Panhellenic Council, Inter-Fraternity Council, or the National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations or demonstrated experience working with college students.
  • 1-2 years of experience in higher education is preferred; previous Greek Life experience a plus.
  • Previous experience with program design, delivery, and facilitation for student leadership training and development is preferred.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training will be considered


  • Full-time, non-exempt position
  • Monday Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
    Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range $18.24 to $24.17)
